SAH Development Fund

We are now accepting applications for Spring & Summer 2026!

The USI Society for Arts and Humanities (SAH) provides limited funding to support student projects, events, research, creative work, and professional development that advance or engage with the arts and humanities. Arts and humanities are broadly defined and may include (but are not limited to): literature, history, philosophy, religious studies, cultural studies, rhetoric, ethics, public humanities, digital humanities, visual and performing arts, and interdisciplinary projects grounded in humanistic inquiry or artistic expression.

Students and student groups receiving support will be asked to share outcomes of their supported activities at a society-sponsored event. For full details and eligibility requirements, please preview the application.

Click the blue link below to preview the application, or click the red button to fill out the application form.

We encourage applicants to preview the requirements and prepare responses ahead of time, as Qualtrics may not save your information, and applications should be completed in one sitting

Past Recipients and Funded Experiences Spotlights

In 2017, Anthony Rintala, Instructor in English, took Lauren Abney and Courtney Marshall, respectively the editors-in-chief of the 2016 and 2017 editions of FishHook, to the ICPA conference to represent FishHook and, ultimately, to pick up a few awards for the 2016 issue, which they both worked on.

While there, they sat in on presentations by the staff from other, more settled journals, and networked with their peers from throughout the state.

Because of the Society of Arts and Humanities program and scholarship I received, I was able to get more involved in the Arts program.

This involvement led to my internship at Publishing Services on campus where I would eventually return as a Senior Graphic Designer for a few years before moving on to other opportunities.

So many of the experiences that I had at USI played a huge role to where I am today; studying abroad, participating in the National Student Advertising Competition, working as a teacher’s assistant…the list goes on. The Society of Arts and Humanities scholarship is at the foundation of all of those experiences.
