Dr. Coudret & the Spirit of Innovation

Dr. Nadine Coudret

Meet Dr. Nadine Coudret, Dean Emerita of the College of Nursing and Health Professions and the Nursing Program at the University of Southern Indiana. Coudret received her doctorate of education from Indiana University in 1980. She was also the Dean of College of Nursing and Health Sciences at the University of Evansville before she came to USI. Dr. Coudret consistently climbed the ranks since she first came to USI in 1990. She started out as a faculty member, then served as undergraduate director, graduate director, then associate dean. She played a significant part in the development of the CNHP before retiring in 2011. Despite retiring, Dr. Coudret provided such a strong foundation that the leadership she provided will continue to affect the CNHP for years to come. Her leadership skills are an inspiration to us all!


Sandy Lasher & the Art of Retirement

Sandy Lasher

Meet Sandy Lasher, a board member of SWIRCA & More, former teacher and administrator for the Diocese of Evansville, and advocate for older adults in the area. Before retiring, Mrs. Lasher spent most of her career as an English teacher at Memorial high school and served as an administrator at one of Memorial’s feeder schools. Since retirement, Mrs. Lasher has been very active in the Evansville community. She has been a SWIRCA & More board member for almost 2 years, is involved with organizations like Cypress, and even coordinates events and activities within her own condominium. Mrs. Lasher is also an avid traveler, and her next destination is Hawaii. Mrs. Lasher has made the most out of her retirement and is an inspiration to us all on the bOLDer People team! 


Janeane Vickers & the Patchwork of Life

Janeane Vickers

Meet Janeane Vickers. We have deemed Janeane as our “jack-of-all-trades” bOLDer Person. She plays several instruments including the mountain dulcimer, quilts, takes belly dancing and hula lessons, has taught herself how to weave baskets and make soap, and has a collection of around 200 Crèches. She credits her many interests for the number of UFOs (unfinished objects) around her home. Janeane has been a clerk at multiple pet stores and Posey County Co-Op, a preschool and substitute teacher, and the Mesker Park Zoo docent. Outside of her diverse work experience, she also has a passion for volunteer work at the humane society and her church. Janeane’s story of her diverse interests and hobbies is a testament to the lifetime of learning that awaits all of us! 


Sheila Huff & Finishing the Race

Sheila Huff

Meet Ms. Sheila Huff, former principal of Benjamin Bosse High School in Evansville, Indiana, and the current Director of Strategic Engagement at Evansville Vanderburgh School Corporation (EVSC). In her current role, she empowers her faculty to become agents of change and guide administration in the right direction. She has also acted as a health teacher, coach and assistant principal. However, no matter her position, she strives to advocate for students and faculty. For her excellent work within EVSC, she has received awards such as the Outstanding Educator of the Year award sponsored by the Evansville Courier & Press and the University of Evansville; the Black Women’s Task Force Educator of the Year award; and the University of Southern Indiana’s 2012 Phenomenal Women Award. Ms. Huff says she loved every minute of her journey and if asked to put her sweatsuit and tennis shoes back on for coaching, she would. We loved speaking with Ms. Huff and hearing her insights on how to equip the leaders of the next generation with the skills they need for success! 


Charles Goldman & Planning for Longevity

Charles Goldman

Meet Charles Goldman. Mr. Goldman is an established board member and resident of Solarbron Senior Living in Evansville. He worked at Old National and National City Bank where he acquired 45+ years on experience in trust management and investing. At 96 years old, Mr. Goldman continues to manage his own investments. He also maintains a scholarship at USI in honor of his late wife, Ellinor Goldman. In his life, Mr. Goldman has learned a lot about planning, goal-setting, and seeing the bigger picture. We enjoyed speaking with Mr. Goldman and hearing about how his unique and interesting experiences have helped to shape his outlook on life!


Todd Reller & Finding the Next Project

Todd Reller

Meet Todd Reller, the vice president of the Indiana State Games board of directors and USI alumnus. Not only is Mr. Reller on the board of directors, but he has also qualified for and competed in the National Senior Games in 2016, 2018, and 2021. Along with his participation in ISG, he was also a student athlete here at USI and was even inducted into USI’s Hall of Fame for men’s cross country and track in 2007. Mr. Reller says that he enjoys being busy and is always searching for the next project in his life. Todd’s stories of learning new skills at any age are inspiring to us all here on the bOLDer People team!


John Crawford

Meet John Crawford. John is a former engineer who now spends his time digitizing historical records. He works to make these records available to the public for free, and likes to focus on records that have genealogical value as he thinks that family is very important, and wants to help families feel connected to their previous generations. John is very close to his own family, and likes to both teach, and learn from, his own grandkids. He is also an extensive traveler and has visited all 50 states and 26 countries! We enjoyed speaking with Mr. Crawford and hearing about his insights on lifelong learning and about his passion for not just his own family, but for families all around the world.
