Congratulations to the USI Beta Alpha Psi student organization for earning superior chapter status for 2022-2023. To achieve superior status, chapters must comply with all national reporting requirements and must participate in volunteer outreach activities, professional meetings, and service activities. Beta Alpha Psi is the honor society for accounting, finance, and information management students at AACSB accredited business schools.
Senior Kaitlyn Sturgeon, an accounting and finance major, was last year's BAP president. "I was honored to have led our chapter for the 2022-2023 year," she says. "It was an incredible experience working with such a motivated and hard-working group of young professionals as well as our remarkable faculty advisors to achieve this status. I will forever be grateful for the professional experiences I have gained during my time as a Beta Alpha Psi member. I also want to extend my best wishes to the incoming president, Keely Fuquay, as she steps into this pivotal role. I have no doubt that she will drive the club to achieve greater feats with her dedication and leadership."
“Chapters who are recognized as ‘Superior’ have improved their chapter programs to achieve a benchmark of excellence,” according to Dr. Brian McGuire, Faculty Advisor for USI’s Chapter. “Superior Chapters have brought in business professionals from area companies in order to promote professional development by improving various skills to its members, such as resume building, interviewing techniques, business writing skills, and verbal presentation skills. Additionally, technical skills in the areas of accounting, finance, information systems, and other topics were reinforced, helping to develop well-rounded professionals.”
"The Superior Chapter award is a result of the hard work and dedication of the BAP officers and members," notes Dr. Thomas Noland, Professor of Accounting, Chair of Accounting and Finance. "These students are to be commended for their achievement."
