Dr. Brian L. McGuire, Associate Dean of the Romain College of Business, has been named Chair of the Accounting Accreditation Committee (AAC) for The Association to Advance Collegiate Schools Business (AACSB) International, effective July 1, 2024. The AAC oversees initial accreditation and continuous improvement review processes to ensure consistency of Accreditation Standards application and equity of recommendations across teams and across programs reviewed.
The AAC is composed of a minimum of ten members and a maximum of twenty members, plus an AAC Chair and AAC Vice Chair appointed by the AACSB Vice Chair-Chair Elect (who shall preside as Board Chair during the year for which the appointments are made). The AAC Chair is normally a dean or Accounting School Director or unit head with a background in accounting, or a current or previous accounting program administrator from an Organization with AACSB accounting accreditation. Normally, the AAC Chair serves two consecutive one-year terms.
Dr. McGuire has a long history with AACSB International. In addition to his current service as Chair of the AAC, he has previously served as Chair of the Associate Deans Affinity Group (ADAG), Vice Chair of the AAC, Vice Chair of the ADAG, a Mentor of Initial Accounting Accreditation, and a Mentor of Accounting Accreditation. In addition, Dr. McGuire currently serves as a member of the Accounting Accreditation Policy Committee (AAPC), and he previously served as a member of the Committee on Accreditation Policy (CAP), a member of the 2018 Accounting Accreditation Task Force (AATF), and a member of the “myAccreditation 2.0” Alpha Testing Project.
Dr. McGuire has also served AACSB International as the Accounting Chair for various “Initial Accounting Accreditation” teams and “Continuing Review” teams since 2008. In addition, he currently serves as a member of the Steering Committee for the Responsible Management Education (RME) Affinity Group, and he previously served as a member of the Steering Committee for the ADAG.
