Everyone loves SWAG! Free t-shirts, pens, stress balls, drawstring bags, sports bottles—the possibilities are endless and our homes are full of goodies. But do these items truly relate or serve as a reminder of the company or event?
Ms. Lisa Wiltsie, instructor in marketing, recently represented USI and Romain College at Evansville Regional Airport's launch event, during which the Airport unveiled its Solar Covered Parking initiative. The plan is to install solar panels atop a new parking structure that will be a means to power more than 50% of the airport terminal. Currently only five airports in the United States have this sustainability project; while Evansville will be the smallest airport to have it, it will be the largest installation.
Wiltsie was impressed with not only this green initiative, but, as a marketing professional, with the relevancy of giveaways to the airport and the event: luggage tags and solar phone chargers. She brought the swag and the concept to discuss with her Mtkg 334 Promotional Strategies class.
The event was attended by public officials including Mayor Winnecke. Everyone present was asked to sign one of the panels to commemorate the event and Wiltsie proudly signed her name with a big "USI" under it.
