Congratulations to senior Reeya Vyas, who earned her Competent Communicator and Competent Leader certifications with Toastmasters. She is a marketing major with a minor in graphic design. She is VP Membership with USI Speaking Eagles Toastmasters, and works as an assistant lab coordinator in the Romain College’s Strategic Social Media Lab.
"My eighteen-year-old self was shy and nervous about public speaking," she said. "Toastmasters has given me the confidence to be able to speak my mind. Toastmasters has prepared me to take on tasks that may seem scary or uncomfortable."
Reeya will also serve as the Reflection Speaker at this fall’s commencement ceremony on December 8.
"Reeya is a good example of how a person can transform by giving speeches, applying feedback, and taking leadership roles in Toastmasters," said Dr. Thomas Weber, assistant professor of management and co-faculty sponsor of Speaking Eagles. "We have seen Reeya become more confident and speak with more authority in her time in the Speaking Eagles club."
