From the Back Roads to a White Coat:

A Unique View of Mentorship for the Underrepresented Student

Dr. Shawn Curry is the Clinic Director for the Internal Medicine Resident-Faculty Clinic at Good Samaritan Hospital in Vincennes, where he also serves as core faculty for the Southwest Indiana Internal Medicine Residency Program and Adjunct Clinical Assistant Professor of Medicine for IUSOM.

He received his Bachelor of Science in Biological Sciences with a specialization in medical sciences from Southern Illinois University at Edwardsville in 2012. He went onto obtain his medical degree from Southern Illinois University School of Medicine in 2017 prior to completing his residency in Internal Medicine at Madigan Army Medical Center in Washington State in 2020.

Over his course in the military and after he has focused on precepting and mentoring trainees from various fields to include combat medics, nurse practitioners, physician assistants, medical students and residents while practicing mainly in the outpatient setting.
