Professional Development Virtual Workshop concerning Basic 12 Lead EKG

Description of Workshop

This interactive virtual workshop will focus on taking your ECG interpretation skills to an advanced level. In addition to a brief anatomy review, the workshop will provide healthcare professionals continuing education concerning 12 Lead ECGs, ischemia, injury, infarction, and effects of medications on the 12 Lead. The workshop will also provide education regarding different types of heart blocks.

Who Should Enroll in this Workshop?

This workshop is designed for English-speaking registered nurses, advance practice registered nurses and others interested in 12 Lead ECG interpretation.

Workshop Objectives

Upon completion of the workshop, the participant should be able to

  1. Describe the coronary arteries and the walls of the heart they perfuse.
  2. Describe the normal 12 lead ECG.
  3. Identify ischemia, injury, and infarction on the 12 lead ECG.
  4. List the leads of the 12 lead ECG which combine to monitor the anterior, lateral, and inferior walls of the heart.
  5. Identify a posterior wall injury pattern.
  6. Describe alterations to the 12 lead ECG related to pericarditis, digitalis effect, hyper and hypokalemia, hyper and hypocalcemia.
  7. Identify different types of heart block.
