The P-12 French teaching concentration prepares you with language and cultural skills as well as teaching methodologies to become an effective French teacher. From the start, you can enroll in a practicum at a local elementary after-school program, teaching French. In addition, you can combine your teaching licensure with a TESOL (Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages) certificate to enhance your marketability. All of your courses are taught by highly qualified PhD faculty. You’ll be able to practice your oral skills in the Miller Language Laboratory, staffed by 26 native/near-native language tutors. USI offers international language events, guest speakers, language clubs and honor societies. USI highly encourages teaching majors to study abroad at one of USI’s partner institutions (same as on-campus tuition costs). Scholarships are also available to French students.
Additional credit hours could indicate a second major, minor, or certificate. A minimum of 120 credit hours is required to graduate.
