Cultural Awareness Training (CAT) Certificate (undergraduate) Overview

Are you interested in building an effective workforce in an increasingly global and diverse business setting? Do you want to promote a culture and language sensitive workforce to increase profits and productivity, and be globally competitive?

If you answered yes to any of the above questions, consider participating in Cultural Awareness Training (CAT). USI offers you a unique hands-on training program that includes lectures by professionals in the region. You will learn to demonstrate sophisticated understanding of the complexity of elements important to members of another culture in relation to its history, values, politics, communication styles, economy, or beliefs and practices. You'll be able to articulate a complex understanding of cultural differences in verbal and nonverbal communication and skillfully negotiate a shared understanding based on those differences.

An undergraduate student should initiate a Change of Academic Program if they wish to add or remove a certificate.

The student obtains a Change of Academic Program form from the Registrar's Office or the department of the new major/minor, secures the signature of the department chair/director (or dean) of any major/minor/certificate to be added, and returns the form to the Registrar's Office for processing.

A student must submit the completed form by the Thursday before priority registration if the change is to be made within the current semester. Unless granted a waiver by the department of the new major, the student must meet all current program requirements for graduation.

To apply to the University of Southern Indiana (USI) for undergraduate enrollment:

  • Complete the online application for admission
  • Pay the $40 application fee
  • Submit official transcripts from all high schools and colleges you've attended

Once USI has processed your application, transcript(s) and scores (if needed), a decision will be made by Undergraduate Admissions and you will receive a notification.

Upon acceptance to USI, you'll receive detailed information about next steps, including orientation, registration and housing.
