The public relations and advertising degree at USI provides you with an understanding of public relations and advertising theories and practices. The advertising emphasis prepares you for one of the fastest-growing fields in communications. You’ll acquire the essential skills of writing, design, advertising graphics, research, market analysis, media planning, promotions, integrated marketing campaigns, and communications theory. In addition to required courses, you may choose from a variety of directed communications electives to enhance your career objectives. You’ll produce effective, accessible, digital and multimedia communications independently and collaboratively to manage specific stakeholder relations and/or issues to achieve organizational objectives.
Classes will monitor emerging social and economic trends on local, national and global issues guiding strategies, tactics, planning, implementation and evaluation of messages and campaigns. You’ll develop critical thinking, analytical and problem-solving skills as you research and analyze publics and audiences, media channels, and public opinion in an effort to optimize the messages and the outcomes for organizations. This integrated communications approach, use of technology and application of industry standards for ethical and professional behavior builds the foundation for you to excel in the growing job market post-graduation.
