Liberty Arena, Home of the Screaming Eagles!

USI announced during a press conference on Thursday, October 31 that Liberty Federal Credit Union has made a historic $10 million gift to the USI Foundation for USI Athletics, securing the naming rights to the Screaming Eagles Arena for the next 20 years. The Arena will now be named Liberty Arena, Home of the Screaming Eagles.

The Multicultural Center (MCC) hosted its 30th Anniversary Celebration Friday through Sunday, October 25-27, bringing together alumni, current students and the USI community to honor the impact of the MCC on campus.

USI Athletics fans flocked to the Screaming Eagles Arena Thursday, October 24 for the annual Screagles Madness event, a celebration of our Men's and Women's Basketball teams ahead of the 2024-25 season.

From the annual USI Fall Festival float to the many booths run by USI organizations and groups, this year's event on Franklin Street was filled with fun times and memories!

Continuing a tradition at Fall Fest

Per tradition, USI was a part of the annual Fall Festival Main Parade with a float celebrating the University. This year, Andy Hammond, Theater Technical Coordinator, spearheaded a group of USI employees and students to continue this tradition at the festival.

2024 Majors and Minors Fair

Departments from all over campus gathered in Carter Hall on Wednesday, October 2 for the 16th annual Exploring Majors and Minors Fair. Students were invited to investigate various curricular and career options in one place.

USI EIA chapter - pedestrian bridge project in South Africa

In June 2024, four USI students from USI’s Engineers in Action (EIA) chapter, led by Dr. Susan Ely, Assistant Professor of Engineering, departed on a trip to Lubombo, Eswatini, in South Africa to build a pedestrian bridge as part of an EIA project to connect isolated communities to critical services.

USI Theatre presents "Vanities"

Directed by USI senior theatre major Madalyn Cottrell, Vanities chronicles the life-affirming journey of three vivacious Texas teens from cheerleaders to sorority sisters to housewives to liberated women and beyond.

2024 Wellness Fair

USI employees and students gathered in Carter Hall Wednesday, September 25 to browse all the vendors participating in the annual Wellness Fair. The more-than-60 vendors shared helpful and important health information and offered free giveaways and treats for attendees.

UNIV 101 class spreads kindness

A UNIV 101 class taught by Susan Todd, Instructor in Professional Studies, passed out kindness rocks to faculty in the Liberal Arts Center and hid a few of the artistic pieces around campus for the USI community to find.

USI students and employees were given opportunities in early September to participate in political discussions, register to vote and hear a reading of the U.S. Constitution thanks to efforts from the Political Science, Public Administration and Philosophy departments!
