Dr. Christine Wisch, Teaching Assistant Professor of Music History, authored a chapter, “‘Abre niña el piano’: Women, Social Mobility, and Music in Salons in Mid-Nineteenth-Century Madrid,” in Four Centuries of Women’s Musical Salons: A Cross-Cultural History, published by Cambridge University Press and now available digitally and in hardback here.
Wisch also presented her research paper, “‘Viva l’adorata Cristina’: The Staging of Queenly Patronage at the Real Conservatorio de María Cristina,” at the international conference Women and Music in the Iberian Courts (1600-1900), held May 7-8 at Universidad Complutense de Madrid in Madrid, Spain.
