Bronstein Center Launches Online Support Group for Dementia Care Partners

The USI Bronstein Center for Healthy Aging and Wellness is partnering with Teepa Snow’s Positive Approach to Care® (PAC) to offer a free online care partner support group designed for informal/family caregivers of people living with dementia. The sessions will be led by an experienced support group leader and will include video clips with dementia expert Teepa Snow, interactive activities, discussions and caregiver resources. The live virtual sessions will be held from 7 to 8:30 p.m. CDT on five consecutive Tuesdays beginning March 18 through April 15.
Each weekly session will build upon the previous topics discussed:
- Understanding and Accepting Dementia
- Common Brain Changes and Supportive Techniques
- Sensory Changes: Increasing Awareness and Understanding Impact
- Person-Centered Problem Solving
- Techniques to Reduce Distress
Sessions will be facilitated via Zoom. Participants are required to connect a device with a camera and a microphone. To maintain confidentiality, sessions will not be recorded.
