National Guard Supplemental Grant (NGSG) - a grant that guarantees up to 100% of tuition and fees will be funded by the State of Indiana for eligible members of the Indiana National Guard at the undergraduate rate.

The NGSG covers tuition and regularly assessed fees, not room and board or textbooks. The NGSG can only be used in the fall and spring semesters. It is subject to available funds.

The NGSG covers only certain tuition charges and does not cover other expenses such as room and board or textbooks. It is subject to available funds.

  • The grant amounts are based on credit hours per semester up to 15 credit hours.
  • NGSG is a once a year application that resets every June.
  • Funds are based upon availability and annual budget set by the State of Indiana Legislation.
  • Application process is done through https://scholartrack.che.in.gov/

**PLEASE NOTE: Students must contact their unit commander for certification and must be re-certified each semester to receive the NGSG.

ARMY: Army Personnel MUST exhaust their annual eligibility through ArmyIgnitED BEFORE applying for the NGSG.

AIR GUARD: Air Guard personnel are able to apply immediately.  Tuition Assistance Programs through the Active Component of the US Air Force are not available to Air National Guard Members.

Amount

The grant pays up to 100% of regularly assessed tuition and fees at the undergraduate rate.

Funds are available for fall and spring terms only, and are capped at 8 semesters. The Indiana National Guard reserves the right, in cooperation with the state, to revoke for cause the NGSG at any time.

Funds can only be utilized to cover tuition and fees not covered by the terms of the Federal Tuition Assistance program.  Fees must apply to all students, both residential and distance learning in order to be covered by NGSG.

Disbursement of Funds

Funds are applied directly to the student's account after the University certifies enrollment. This typically takes place after the fourth week of classes.

It is very important for all training and prior educational experience is evaluated for credit transfer.

Request Transcripts for Evaluation - Any forms of training, whether military or other institutions, should be evaluated by our Registrar. Request transcripts be sent directly to them through the institution or if military through Joint Services Transcripts (JST) or the Community College of the Air Force (CCAF).  Once reviewed, your credit evaluation transfer can be viewed on your Degree Works transcript.

The National Guard Extension Scholarship is a limited scholarship available to former Guard members who left the Guard under honorable discharge conditions, used the NGSG in the past, and who served on active duty overseas since Sept. 10, 2001.
