The Veteran, Military and Family Resource Center recognizes military members and dependents have special needs and concerns. Our office seeks to ease the transition from military to civilian life, and will guide you as you embark on or continue your college experience with us.
The Veteran, Military and Family Resource Center is here to assist students with applying for and utilizing Department of Veterans Affairs Education benefits.
NEW or TRANSFER students may apply for VA benefits, learn more about various VA chapters, and how to complete the application process by visiting the checklists on this page or by visiting the USI Veteran Military and Family Resource Center on campus in the Education Center, Room 0114.

WHAT DOES IT MEAN TO BE "MILITARY-CONNECTED"?
Military-Connect means that you identify in one of the following areas:
- Currently serving on active duty within the branches of our armed forces
- Currently serving within the National Guard or Reserve Forces
- A family member (Spouse/Child) of a service member on active duty
- A Veteran of active-duty service, National Guard or Reserves (possessing a DD-214 or other documentation of service)
- A family member (Spouse/Child) of a Veteran

Active Duty | Student is a Title-10 or 32 full-time soldier or dependent of a member of the Active Duty Force (full-time) Army, Navy, Air Force, Marine Corps, or Coast Guard or is a dependent of a member on Full-Time National Guard Duty. |
National Guard or Reserve Component | Student is a Inactive Duty Training (IDT) member of a reserve component unit (including ARNG) or a dependent of a member of the National Guard (not full-time duty) or Reserve Forces (Army, Navy, Air Force, Marine Corps, or Coast Guard). |
