2019 Summer Camps at USI

May 22, 2019

Registration is now open for a variety of camps offered this summer through the University of Southern Indiana. The camps each have a different focus, and range from engineering and other STEM-related themes to sports and general enrichment. Here is a sampling of the offerings available for summer 2019.

Engineering and Manufacturing Creativity Camp (EMC2)

The Engineering and Manufacturing Creativity Camp (EMC2) on the University of Southern Indiana campus is a day camp made possible by the Southwest Indiana STEM Resource Center and the University of Southern Indiana Engineering Department. The camp gives participants a chance to learn what engineers do, through a series of exciting on-campus activities and a field trip to a local manufacturer. This camp takes place July 15-19 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Registration is now open with a fee of $150 and is open to incoming 9-12th graders (must be entering these grades during the 2019-20 academic year).

Girls Only (GO) STEM! Summer Exploration Series

The reimagined Girls Only (GO) STEM! Summer Exploration Series now features one and two-day mini-camps that allow high school girls to explore science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) fields. GO STEM! mini-camps will be held throughout the summer, beginning June 5-6. Participants may register for any or all sessions. GO STEM! is open to girls in grades 9-12. The cost of the mini-camps is $25. Applications are available until camps are full at www.swistem.org.

Summer Enrichment Camp (SECamp)

USI's Summer Enrichment Camp is an all-day camp taking place in the lower level of Rice Library. The camp includes enrichment activities designed to promote educational, physical and social/emotional growth, including swimming, field trips, science, art, cooking and more. Participants may be enrolled full-time, or if space allows, part-time for the entire summer. Limited spaces are available, and priority is given to USI families. This camp takes place May 28 - July 26 from 7 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Pre-enrollment is $60 per child and includes a t-shirt. The pre-enrollment fee is non-refundable and guarantees your child a spot in 2019 SECamp.

Sports Camps

Sports camps for various age groups and skill levels will be offered this summer by the USI Baseball, Women's Basketball, Men's Basketball, Volleyball and Men's and Women's Soccer programs. The camps take place throughout May, June and July and vary in length and cost.

Lifelong Learning Youth Programs

USI Outreach and Engagement will host several classes throughout the summer for high school students. Courses include: Introduction to Personal Finance for High School Students, Verbal Skills for the SAT and Math Skills for the SAT. Additional Lifelong Learning courses will be offered for adults this summer. They cover a variety of topics ranging from organizing and decluttering your home to sharpening your Excel skills.
