Fall 2026-Spring 2027 Housing for Current USI Students
Have you thought about where you will live next academic year? If you currently live on campus, you may be asking yourself "should I move off campus?"
Choosing where to live is one of life's most important decisions. Students should consider several factors when determining what is the best fit for their housing needs: budget, lifestyle, proximity to campus and job, transportation, safety, and access to resources.
Discuss your options with family and friends to make an informed decision on a living environment that will contribute to your academic success, health, and well-being.
Fee Waiver Eligibility
- Indiana 21st Century Scholars
- Students who qualify for test fee waivers
- Military veterans and their dependents
Fee Waiver Process
- Students who may qualify for a waiver should wait to complete the housing application until they receive an email with the decision on their waiver request.
- If the waiver is approved, students can proceed with the application. If denied, they must pay the application fees.
- Students who pay the fees before requesting the waiver or before receiving a decision will not be refunded, even if they are eligible for the waiver.
- To request a fee waiver, students should click on the Fee Waiver Request button on the Housing Portal before completing the housing application.
- Supporting documentation must be uploaded, and staff will review the requests and follow up via email with a status update.
Important Dates
To better support students as they consider their housing options, we extended key deadlines to allow additional time to make informed living arrangement decisions.
- March 4: Deadline to submit a fee waiver request to meet the March 6 contract deadline for March room selection
- March 6: Deadline to finalize roommate groups for March room selection
- March 6: Deadline to complete 2026–2027 housing contract to be eligible for March room selection
- March 9-13: March room renewal and room selection timeslot emails sent
- March 11: Roommate group process opens for new incoming students, current USI students not living on campus, and current residents who did not participate earlier
- March 16-17: Room Renewal for current housing residents
- March 19–31: March Room Selection for current housing residents
- May 6: Deadline to submit a fee waiver request to meet the May 8 contract deadline for May room selection
- May 8: Deadline to finalize roommate groups and complete 2026–2027 contract for May room selection eligibility
- May 18–27: May Room Selection
- June 1: Deadline to cancel 2026–2027 contract without penalty
- Early July: Room Notification
- Mid-July: Selecting Move-in Timeslot begins mid-July
