Formative Feedback & Discussions on Teaching
- The Center for Excellence in Teaching and Learning provides one-on-one consultation services to USI faculty.
- These consultations may include classroom observations, providing feedback, developing one's scholarship of teaching and learning (SoTL), and discussions on evidence-based teaching practices and educational research.
- Classroom observations typically consist of pre-observation communications with the instructor, observing a pre-determined class session, and follow-up discussion(s) on the formative feedback. They are not intended as summative evaluations of teaching.
- This confidential service is available to all USI faculty upon request.
Teaching Observation/Consultation Requests
To schedule an observation or consultation, please complete the Teaching Observation/Consultation Request Form below.
Faculty members who are interested in the Teaching Consultations program want to improve, refine, and/or further develop their teaching and improve student learning. The purpose of providing teaching consultations is to engage colleagues in a reflective process of formative review and exploration of research-based practices and innovations. However, we do not conduct summative evaluations (i.e., evaluations of teaching competence for promotion, tenure, or annual reviews). Teaching consultations also are available to assist faculty members who are developing their Scholarship of Teaching and Learning (SoTL).
To help us understand your current needs, please select the consulting activity(ies) below that interest you.
