Haleigh Rynski ’24 wanted a challenge her senior year at the University of Southern Indiana. As an accounting major, she sought more hands-on experience with tax preparation. She signed up for the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) class, which provides free federal and state income tax preparation to community members who qualify. Accounting majors in the Romain College of Business provide tax preparation with oversight from Dr. Brett Bueltel ’12, Associate Professor of Accounting.
"Through the VITA program, I was able to gain beneficial hands-on experience with clients and further my knowledge of tax accounting in a real world setting," Rynski said.
When choosing a university, size and familiarity were crucial in her decision. She grew up in Woodlawn, Illinois and wanted to attend school in an area that felt like home. “I really like the size of USI’s campus and that my professors know me by name,” Rynski said. She also enjoyed participating in the Beta Alpha Psi Business Club.
Rynski looks forward to graduating in May 2024. Her hard work and dedication led to interest in furthering her education. She loved her experience at USI so much she’s enrolling in the MBA program this Fall!
