Statistics Overview

The USI Mathematical Sciences Department is a community of learners devoted to advancing knowledge in the mathematical sciences. Small class sizes allow you to build strong relationships with your classmates and receive personalized attention from faculty members.

By pursuing a degree in statistics, you will learn to convert real-world problems into testable research hypotheses and apply appropriate methodology to analyze and interpret data. You will also learn to present statistical findings and utilize technological tools used for data analysis, including R, SAS, SPSS, and Minitab. Many statistics majors are members of Mu Gamma Pi, the USI Mathematics Club. This organization hosts guest speakers, participates in mathematics competitions, and engages in a number of social activities throughout the year.
