Increasingly, businesses, governments, and scientists rely on the organization and analysis of data when making decisions. The applied statistics minor at USI provides an opportunity to enhance your understanding of statistics and data analysis. You’ll learn how to apply your new skills to a wide variety of fields. In addition to learning introductory concepts of descriptive and inferential statistics, you will learn to use regression as a tool to analyze data, design statistical experiments, and analyze data using nonparametric methods. As a student at USI, you will also learn to use technological tools commonplace in business and research settings.
USI’s applied statistics minor is designed to be accessible to a wide variety of students with various mathematical backgrounds. The minor will complement majors in a variety of fields, such as business, economics, psychology, sociology, political science, biology, or health informatics.
An undergraduate student should initiate a Change of Academic Program if they wish to add or remove a minor.
The student obtains a Change of Academic Program form from the Registrar's Office or the department of the new major/minor, secures the signature of the department chair/director (or dean) of any major/minor to be added, and returns the form to the Registrar's Office for processing.
A student must submit the completed form by the Thursday before priority registration if the change is to be made within the current semester. Unless granted a waiver by the department of the new major, the student must meet all current program requirements for graduation.
