The USI Mathematical Sciences Department fosters a community of learners dedicated to advancing knowledge in mathematical sciences. With small class sizes, you’ll enjoy personalized attention from faculty and build strong relationships with peers. As a mathematics major, you'll develop critical mathematical thinking, accurate communication, and problem-solving skills using technology.
The mathematics curriculum includes a strong foundation in calculus, mathematical reasoning and proof, linear algebra, abstract algebra, probability theory, and real analysis, with upper-level electives available in pure and applied mathematics. You'll also gain experience with mathematical and statistical software in a dedicated study room. Many math majors join Mu Gamma Pi, the USI Mathematics Club, which hosts guest speakers, competitions, and social events throughout the year.
