Rave Guardian service switching to Screagle Watch App
New app to launch February 2
January 30, 2026
USI Public Safety has announced the Rave Guardian service will be discontinued and replaced with Screagle Watch, a free mobile app that allows USI students, employees and the public to access a variety of safety features on their personal devices. The switch to Screagle Watch will happen at 9 a.m. Monday, February 2. All USI faculty, staff and students are strongly encouraged to download the app, even if they previously did not have the Rave Guardian app. Scan the QR codes below to download!

Rave Alerts to students and employees WILL NOT be changing under the switch—if you currently receive an email, phone call or text message from the Rave system for a weather event or emergency, you will continue to do so. All active University email addresses are automatically enrolled in Rave alerts. Individuals may visit RaveAlert in the myUSI portal to opt-in for text or phone calls.
The Screagle Watch app will still offer the familiar safety features of the Rave Guardian app but will include much more! One exciting new feature is the availability of the app to University guests, visitors and parents; this allows anyone coming to campus to use Screagle Watch to stay up to date on important information, as well as use safety features while on campus.
The Screagle Watch app will also include a news feed and specific in-app announcements as part of its new features. Users of Screagle Watch will still be able to directly call Public Safety with the app, as well as chat with Public Safety dispatch.
Other features:
- Emergency HELP! red button: Users on the USI campus or vicinity (under a three-mile radius of campus) may press this button to share their location with USI Public Safety dispatch and the option to dial the emergency line.
- Report a tip button: Option to call USI Public Safety’s non-emergency line or send an in-app tip report to Public Safety.
- USI Campus Maps button: access to USI Campus map and METS shuttle bus routes
- Emergency Numbers button: contacts allowing users to reach out to the correct services in case of an emergency concern.
- Friend Walk: This feature sends a friend your location through email or SMS. Once the friend accepts the request, the user picks their destination, and the friend can track their location in real time.
- I’m OK!: Users can send their location and a message indicating they are “okay” to a recipient of their.
Screagle Watch is available on the Apple App Store and the Google Play Store for download. For additional information about the app, Rave alerts and more, visit USI.edu/public-safety/campus-alerts-and-messaging.
