February 26, 2024
The University of Southern Indiana College of Liberal Arts will present Eclipse: The 16th annual Interdisciplinary Colloquium from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Monday, April 8 as part of Solarpalooza and before the total solar eclipse beginning at 2:02 p.m.
Solarpalooza at USI will offer unobstructed sky views and learning opportunities to educators, students and the community that uniquely position the University as the prime location for viewing the eclipse.
Students and faculty have submitted papers, panels, artwork, posters, performances or workshops for the Colloquium that will allow the community to explore the many facets of eclipses, from their scientific underpinnings to their cultural and historical significance. “There will be a mixture of faculty and student presentations exploring the concept of eclipses, both literal and metaphorical for this special colloquium,” said Dr. Alexandra Natoli, Assistant Professor of French and event organizer.
Topics may include rare or singular events, eclipses in pop culture, natural phenomena and their interpretations or the mystical and marvelous. For a full list of topics, visit the Interdisciplinary Colloquium webpage.
