*UPDATE: Brenna Julian was awarded the 2023 Hagemann Awards for Musical Performance. She performed works from Scott Joplin, Friedrich Kuhlau, Claude Debussy ad Ryuichi Sakamoto.
“It was so inspiring to see the unique way each performer brought melody, harmony and text from the composers’ page to create a body of sound that mirrored the students’ love for performing while evoking such a wide range of emotion," says Daniel Craig, Associate Professor of Music. "We are all very fortunate for this long-standing competition, created by Philip Hagemann to support young musicians in Posey County."
The University of Southern Indiana’s Philip Hagemann Department of Performing Arts will host the 40th annual Hagemann Awards for Musical Performance Concert, a competition for Posey County, Indiana, high school students, at 7 p.m. Wednesday, July 19 in Murphy Auditorium in New Harmony, Indiana.
