Crose named new USI Director of Online Learning

The University of Southern Indiana has named Dr. Brian Crose as Director of Online Learning, effective January 4, 2023. 

In this role, Crose will provide strategic direction for Online Learning at USI as well as provide leadership in developing and implementing the University’s online learning strategy to strengthen existing online programs and develop cutting-edge new programs. Through these initiatives, Crose will lead efforts to enhance student success and increase recruitment, enrollment, retention and graduation rates. 

He will oversee instructional design activities to promote continuous quality improvement in course and program design and development. Additionally, Crose will oversee digital marketing activities to elevate the visibility of USI’s online programs and other recruitment strategies. 

Crose comes to USI with more than 18 years of experience in online higher education. Most recently, he served as Director of eLearning at Seminole State College of Florida, overseeing four instructional designers, the implementation of a quality rubric, faculty professional development and the College’s learning management system, Canvas.  

During his tenure in higher education, Crose has led various support units including instructional design, operations, project management, curriculum development, student advising, student affairs and registration services. He also led oversight of academic compliance, regulatory compliance, programmatic accreditation, program management, faculty evaluation and overall academic administration. He has been responsible for hiring and developing an estimated 3,500 faculty members, training them in effective pedagogy, andragogy and the effective utilization of technology in the classroom.  

Crose has experience teaching both undergraduate and graduate courses at public, private and for-profit institutions. He has completed Six Sigma Green and Yellow Belt certifications and is currently completing a professional certificate in Agile Leadership through the University of Colorado. 

He earned a bachelor’s degree in education from Indiana University; a master’s degree in curriculum and instruction from Indiana State University; and a doctorate in higher education leadership from Northcentral University.
