COVID-19 testing on campus

September 11, 2020

On-campus COVID-19 testing is now available for USI students and employees at the former Children's Learning Center (not the University Health Center). Appointments are required.

When is COVID-19 testing available at USI?

Testing is available for USI students and employees by appointment only on Tuesday afternoons and Thursday mornings.

How do I schedule an appointment for COVID-19 testing?

Call the University Health Center (UHC) at 812-465-1250 to schedule an appointment to be tested for COVID-19.

I am unsure if I should schedule an appointment to be tested for COVID-19. What should I do?

Schedule an appointment to be tested if you:

To avoid false negatives, testing should be completed at least 48 hours after the onset of symptoms or 48 hours after your last exposure to someone who has tested positive for COVID-19.

If you are still not sure if you should be tested for COVID-19, please call the UHC at 812-465-1250 to discuss your concerns with a nurse.

What should I do when I arrive for my appointment?

USI's COVID-19 testing site is located at the former Children's Learning Center, not the University Health Center. The testing site currently offers both drive-thru and walk-up services, though these plans are subject to change.

For drive-thru testing, pull into the circle drive and look for the USI tent and signage directing you to "stop" for testing.

For walk-up testing, which still requires an appointment, follow the sidewalk to the north side of the building to a fenced in area with an "enter" sign.

Please come to your appointment alone to prevent potential exposure to others.

I have a medical need unrelated to COVID-19 testing. Can I go to the University Health Center?

While all COVID-19 testing on the USI campus will take place at the former Children's Learning Center, the UHC remains open to assist students and employees with other medical issues.

Please call the UHC before entering if you:

Additionally, telehealth visits are available for USI students and employees through the UHC.

Telehealth visits are provided to students enrolled in the Deaconess Office Visit Plan at no cost.

Employees can access LiveHealth Online or utilize telehealth services through their doctor, if provided, or the University Health Center. These services are subject to the normal cost share through University insurance plans (office visit copay for the PPO plan and deductible/coinsurance for the HSA plan).
