Associate professor of art education to present "Colorblindness: A Visual Art Resource"

The University of Southern Indiana College of Liberal Arts will host its second Liberal Arts Faculty Colloquium for the Fall 2019 semester featuring associate professor of art education, Dr. Joseph Uduehi, at 3 p.m. Friday, October 18, in Kleymeyer Hall in the Liberal Arts Center.

Colorblindness or "Color Vision Deficiency" affects approximately 1 in 10 Caucasian men and is a condition where it is difficult for the individuals to differentiate actual colors of objects, with red and green being the most common type of colorblindness. Uduehi's presentation will focus on the visual arts resources that he has developed to assist colorblind individuals in dealing with the challenges posed by colorblindness. This resource can be integrated into classroom curriculum development and everyday life.

Uduehi received a master's degree in Art Education and Cinematography and a doctoral degree in Art Education from the University of Illinois. He currently has a copyright for his methods and systems for communicating colors to and from colorblind people.
