2020 M. Edward Jones Engagement Award now open for nominations

University of Southern Indiana Outreach and Engagement is now accepting nominations for the M. Edward Jones Engagement Award through Friday, December 6. The award recipient will be announced at the sixth annual Celebration of Engagement from 3 to 5 p.m. Wednesday, February 26, 2020 in the USI Griffin Center.

The M. Edward Jones Engagement Award annually recognizes an individual, group or project for excellence in leadership, commitment to quality, tireless service and dedication to lifelong learning in fulfilling the outreach missions of USI. Dr. Edward Jones was the founding director of Continuing Education in 1974. The division has since changed its name to Outreach and Engagement but never changed its mission: to extend resources of the university to the people and organizations of the region.

 "Community is at the heart of Outreach and Engagement's mission," said Dawn Stoneking, Interim Associate Provost for Outreach and Engagement and Director of Lifelong Learning. "The M. Edward Jones Engagement Award recognizes individuals in the USI community that are making a profound impact and enriching the lives of citizens in the Tri-state region through their service, leadership and volunteerism. We are excited to acknowledge the wonderful work our colleagues do to further Outreach and Engagement's impact on the community."

2019 award recipient, Dr. Rick Hudson, associate professor of mathematics and chair of the Mathematics Department, was acknowledged for his commitment to support K-12 teaching through making connections with teachers, providing them with professional development and serving mathematics education organizations at the state and national level.

The Celebration of Engagement is an annual and free event held to highlight the University's rich history of community partnerships. The 2020 event will be hosted by USI Outreach and Engagement's Community Engagement department.
