LaRowe appointed interim dean of students

August 8, 2018

Following a national search for the dean of students position at USI, a decision has been made to name Dr. Nicholas LaRowe, associate professor of Political Science and Public Administration in the College of Liberal Arts, to a one-year appointment as interim dean of students. The appointment is effective immediately as a permanent appointment for that position is further evaluated. LaRowe will continue to teach in the College of Liberal Arts, but in a reduced capacity.

"LaRowe is well-suited to fill the role of interim dean," said Marcia Kiessling, associate provost for Student Affairs. "He is well-respected by the University community-students, faculty and staff. He has a strong understanding of policy and procedure and has served in an administrative role as a past chair of the Faculty Senate."

Incoming students will have the opportunity to meet and hear LaRowe as one of the keynote speakers for the Eagle Experience during Welcome Week. He will speak on the topic of "Civility and Understanding the First Amendment."
