USI to hold Fall Commencement ceremonies on Saturday, December 12

The University of Southern Indiana will hold two Fall Commencement ceremonies on Saturday, December 12, in the Physical Activities Center (PAC).

A 10 a.m. ceremony will be held for degree candidates from the College of Liberal Arts, Romain College of Business, and Outreach and Engagement. Doors open at 9 a.m. Students in the College of Nursing and Health Professions and Pott College of Science, Engineering, and Education will receive degrees at 1 p.m. Doors open at noon.

As the recipient of the 2015 Distinguished Professor Award, Kathryn M. Waters, professor of art in the College of Liberal Arts, will present the commencement address at both ceremonies.

A reception will be held on the first floor of the University Center East immediately following each ceremony.

556 students are eligible to participate in the two ceremonies. Of those, 10 will graduate summa cum laude, 34 magna cum laude, and 46 cum laude.

Summa cum laude graduates, with a perfect 4.0 grade point average and recognizable at the ceremony by gold stoles and tassels, are: Leslie Betz, Danielle Clark, Shelby Davis, Abby Fischer, Taylor Kearschner, Clinton Rauch, Cynthia Reed, Dorothy Schucker, Alyssa Sventeckis and Elizabeth Szafarczyk.

Ten graduates are University Honors Scholars - students who have successfully completed the Honors Program - and can be recognized by the white honor cords worn with their regalia. They are: Amanda Stradtner, Jenna Rueger, Christina Wilson, Jessica Kelley, Michelle Schmitt, Morgan Cochran, Shelby Davis, Kassidy Kinner, Marie Luff and Alyssae Sventeckis.

Fall Commencement ceremonies are held each year in addition to the Spring Commencement ceremonies held in May.
