
USI Fall Commencement ceremonies set for Saturday, December 13

The University of Southern Indiana will hold two Fall Commencement ceremonies on Saturday, December 13, in the Physical Activities Center (PAC).
A 10 a.m. ceremony will be held for degree candidates from the Romain College of Business and Pott College of Science, Engineering, and Education. Doors open at 9 a.m. Students in the College of Liberal Arts, College of Nursing and Health Professions, and Division of Outreach and Engagement will receive degrees at 1 p.m. Doors open at noon.
As the recipient of the 2014 Distinguished Professor Award, Dr. Kent Scheller, associate professor of physics in the Pott College of Science, Engineering, and Education, will present the commencement address at both ceremonies.
A reception will be held on the first floor of the University Center East immediately following each ceremony.
More than 580 students are eligible to participate in the ceremonies. Of those, seven will graduate summa cum laude, 37 magna cum laude, and 53 cum laude.
Summa cum laude graduates, with a perfect 4.0 grade point average, can be recognized at the ceremony by their gold stoles and tassels. They are: Mariah Alvey, Katsiaryna Arustamava-Diedrich, Kami Bender, Catherine Harvey, Erica Preston, Mollie Thomas, and Ralph Toon.
Thirteen graduates are University Honors Scholars - students who have successfully completed the Honors Program - and can be recognized by the white honor cords worn with their regalia. They are Nicki Reece, Kami Bender, Alexandra Everley, Kristina Mobley, Melanie Phillips, Amanda Lupfer, Holly Beier, Robert Bauer, Shannon Joyce, Megan Kraemer, Valerie Campbell, Natalie Campbell, and Adrienne Eades.

USI began holding Fall Commencement in 2006 and added a second ceremony in 2008 to accommodate the growing number of graduates, family, and friends in attendance.
