Fall Commencement set for Saturday

The University of Southern Indiana will hold two Fall Commencement ceremonies on Saturday, December 14, in the Physical Activities Center (PAC).
A 10 a.m. ceremony will be held for degree candidates from the Romain College of Business and Pott College of Science, Engineering, and Education. Doors open at 9 a.m. Students in the College of Liberal Arts, College of Nursing and Health Professions, and Division of Outreach and Engagement will receive degrees at 1 p.m. Doors open at noon.
As the recipient of the 2013 Distinguished Professor Award, Dr. Robert E. Boostrom, professor of education in the Pott College of Science, Engineering, and Education, will present the commencement address at both ceremonies.
A reception will be held on the first floor of the University Center East immediately following each ceremony.
More than 580 students are eligible to participate in the ceremonies. Of those, 10 will graduate summa cum laude, 33 magna cum laude, and 38 cum laude.
Summa cum laude graduates, with a perfect 4.0 grade point average, can be recognized in the ceremony by their gold stoles and tassels. They are: Michael Breining, Marianne Bush, Stephanie Deig, Nathaniel Gerlach, Misty LaFollete, Kayla McCarty, Danielle Shain, Lauren Smith, Jeffrey Vaughan, and Kelsey Ziliak.
Five graduates are University Honors Scholars - students who have successfully completed the Honors Program - and can be recognized by the white honor cords worn with their regalia. They are Amber Johnson, Brace Gibson, Sara Poletti, Miranda Ingram, Heather Long, Randall McGrew, Maggie Cosker, Yena Choi, Kayla McCarty, Anna McManaway, Laura Everest, and Marian Yoder.

USI began holding Fall Commencement in 2006 and added a second ceremony in 2008 to accommodate the growing number of graduates, family, and friends in attendance.
