Alex Champagne

A native of Dryden, Michigan, where he grew up on the grounds of Seven Ponds Nature Center, Alex has always been interested in nature, especially birds (As his students can attest). While attending Michigan State University, Alex did undergraduate research with Richard Hill, and thus became interested in evolutionary physiology. For graduate school, Alex attended The Ohio State University, where he studied under Joe Williams, writing his dissertation on cutaneous water loss and lipids in the stratum corneum of birds. He came to USI in the fall of 2015. In his spare time, Alex enjoys birding, hiking, and spending time with his wife and 2 cats. He is also proud of his office collection, and encourages you to see it for yourself!
