Reservations to Participate

You must make a reservation to participate in the Commencement ceremony.

Students who have applied with the Registrar's office to graduate will receive an email approximately three months prior to graduation to signal participation. If you do not receive an email, please email commencement@usi.edu. All students completing their degrees in the Spring or Summer semesters participate in the May Commencement ceremonies. All students completing their degrees in the Fall semester participate in the December Commencement ceremony.

If you feel that your name may be mispronounced by the reader during the ceremony, please contact Tiffany Porter in the Registrar's office at 812-464-1761 or email registrar@usi.edu

Participation Information

Check in for graduates for each ceremony begins in the Screaming Eagles Arena one hour prior to the start of the ceremony.

Regalia

You may order your regalia online through the Campus Store or visit the store in person for same-day pickup. Doctoral graduates should contact the Campus Store directly to place orders.

When you receive your academic regalia, check to make sure you have the gown, mortar board and tassel. Graduate students should also have the appropriate hood. If anything is missing, contact the Campus Store or email sm8386@bncollege.com immediately.

PLEASE NOTE: You will be allowed to wear only approved stoles from clubs or organizations. Refer to the Regalia, Stoles and Cords Policy page for additional information.

At the conclusion of the ceremony, graduates will be ushered out of the Screaming Eagles Arena to University Boulevard and asked to return to their vehicles to depart the campus. Due to COVID-19 and the need to physically distance, graduates and guests are asked not to congregate, but rather to depart the building so appropriate cleaning of the Arena can take place for the next ceremony.

A livestream of each ceremony will be available at www.usi.edu/watch-commencement. Please inform friends and family who will be unable to join you in the Arena of your ceremony date and time and encourage them to watch you cross the stage on your special day.

Protocols related to COVID-19 restrictions are subject to change based on current CDC guidance and local conditions. Any changes will be communicated as appropriate.

Tickets for Guests

At this time, no tickets will be required for guests at the Commencement Ceremonies; however, this is subject to current information from the CDC and the overall number of participants in each ceremony. Should there be a need to update guidance, graduates will be informed.
