English - Literature Emphasis Overview

In an age of constant communication – electronic, written, spoken and personal – success in today's world depends on a person's ability to understand and use language. This is precisely what an English major trains you to do. Through the study of literature and writing, the English program prepares you to communicate effectively, think creatively and live wisely in a diverse world. USI’s program offers small class sizes with direct access to instructors, lively student organizations and publication opportunities. Join the program if you have an interest in writing, from creative writing to digital writing, in communication, and the diversity of human experience as expressed though text.

To apply to the University of Southern Indiana (USI) for undergraduate enrollment:

  • Pay the $40 application fee
  • Submit official transcripts from all high schools and colleges you've attended

Once USI has processed your application, transcript(s) and scores (if needed), a decision will be made by Undergraduate Admissions and you will receive a notification.

Upon acceptance to USI, you'll receive detailed information about next steps, including orientation, registration and housing.
