Dual Credit English Teaching - Post-Master’s Certificate Overview

As a student in the dual credit English teaching post-master’s certificate program, you will have the opportunity to matriculate through a curriculum designed to enable you to shape your course of study to your own particular needs. The program is comprised of eighteen credit hours of coursework leading to a post-master’s certificate. The teaching certificate program includes a pedagogical course in either teaching literature or teaching composition. You would choose the course(s) related to the dual-credit courses you intend to teach. You would then choose an additional 12-15 hours from a variety of courses, fitting your interests.

  1. Submit an online application and $40 application fee.
  2. Upload INSERT PROGRAM SPECIFIC REQUIREMENTS (for example: current resume, personal statement, writing sample, etc.)
  3. Submit transcripts to Graduate Studies.
    1. Read the full transcript policy by clicking here.
    2. Official transcripts are required only from the institution at which your highest degree was earned. Electronic transcripts are preferred and can be emailed from the previous institution to Graduate.Studies@usi.edu or the previous institutions e-transcript portal, if applicable (i.e. Parchment or National Student Clearing House).
    3. Unofficial transcripts from other institutions attended can be submitted by the applicant via application status page or by email to Graduate.Studies@usi.edu.
    4. Applicants who wish to seek transfer credit for graduate coursework must submit an official transcript from the institution where that work was completed.
    5. Official International course-by-course evaluated transcripts must be sent from a National Association of Credential Evaluation Services (NACES) member to the School of Graduate Studies by email (Graduate.Studies@usi.edu) or the evaluators transcript portal (if applicable).

  4. International applicants may be required to submit:
    1. An official IELTS or TOEFL score no less than two years old.
    2. Copy of current Visa or Passport.
