As a student in the dual credit English teaching post-master’s certificate program, you will have the opportunity to matriculate through a curriculum designed to enable you to shape your course of study to your own particular needs. The program is comprised of eighteen credit hours of coursework leading to a post-master’s certificate. The teaching certificate program includes a pedagogical course in either teaching literature or teaching composition. You would choose the course(s) related to the dual-credit courses you intend to teach. You would then choose an additional 12-15 hours from a variety of courses, fitting your interests.
USI’s dual credit English teaching post-master’s certificate fulfills the Higher Learning Commission (HLC) guideline that teachers of dual credit classes must have a Master's Degree with a minimum of 18 graduate credit hours in the subject area in which they teach.
