Liberty Arena, Home of the Screaming Eagles

In order to maintain a safe and secure environment in and around the Liberty Arena, please be aware of and abide by the following rules and policies. We work diligently to make our facility safe and secure for an enjoyable experience during your time on our campus. For safety or security concerns contact USI Public Safety at 812-492-7777.

Entrance

The main entrance to the Liberty Arena is through the lobby on the north side of the building along Bennett Lane.

Security Searches and Metal Detectors

To help ensure the highest level of safety and security, a search process may be required for select events in order to prevent unauthorized and/or prohibited items from entering the Liberty Arena. Guests who refuse to submit to a metal detector screening, security wand or visual search will be refused entry. For crowd safety, Public Safety and law enforcement personnel reserve the right to inspect and prohibit any item deemed inappropriate.

General Conduct

We request that all guests be courteous to those around them and abide by all building policies and regulations. Guests who do not conduct themselves in a proper manner and do not abide by building policies and regulations will be removed from the Liberty Arena.

Prohibited Items

  • Weapons: firearms, explosives, knives, or any object intended to be used as a weapon. Full USI policy.
  • Backpacks, large purses, diaper bags [Maximum bag size allowed -- 14” x 14” x 6”]
  • Outside food or beverages
  • Inflatable objects
  • Metal or glass containers of any kind
  • Strollers
  • Umbrellas (must be left outside entry doors)
  • Clothing or other items with offensive/inappropriate language
  • Animals/pets (excluding service animals)
  • Balloons
  • Noisemakers
  • Laser pens/products of any type
  • Drones
  • Bicycles, inline and roller skates, skateboards, scooters, shoes with wheels

Banners and Signs

Banners and signs are permitted providing they are in good taste, as deemed by University administration. Signs must not be commercial in nature or utilize wood, metal or other types of objects for support. They must not be hung or fastened anywhere in the building or in any way that obstructs another guest’s view.

Smoking

The University of Southern Indiana is a tobacco-free-campus. Smoking and the use of other tobacco products are not permitted except in personal vehicles. Electronic cigarettes and all tobacco products are prohibited. For the safety of our guests and for the health and comfort of others, there are no areas designated for smoking outside the Liberty Arena.

Drug and Alcohol Policy

The University of Southern Indiana prohibits the illegal manufacture, possession, use, and/or distribution of drugs and alcohol by students, employees, and visitors on University-owned or leased property or as a part of any "University activities" as that term is identified by the University.

Campus Solicitation Policy

No canvassing, peddling, soliciting, distributing or posting of any written or printed material by external (non-campus) individuals or organizations is permitted on the grounds or in the buildings or on equipment or networks owned/operated by the University without the written permission of the USI president.

Cameras/Video

Personal cameras are permitted although flash functions must be disabled. Professional cameras/large detachable lens and tripods are not permitted without University approval and proper media credentials. Video is only permitted with approval and credentials. To obtain the proper credentials, please contact University Communications at University.Communications@usi.edu or 812-228-5157. Depending on the event, the camera policy is subject to change.

Waiver of Liability

Those entering the Screaming Eagles Arena voluntarily assume all risks associated with the event, including the risk of lost, stolen, or damaged property or personal injury. The University of Southern Indiana may revoke any individual’s license and eject or refuse entry to any individual for violation of Arena policies, illegal activity, misconduct, or failure to comply with any and all security measures. All individuals entering the Screaming Eagles Arena agree to indemnify and hold harmless the University of Southern Indiana against any loss, liability, damage, or costs, including court costs and attorney’s fees, which may arise due to their attendance of any event within Screaming Eagles Arena.
