Housing and Residence Life closes to residents at 6 p.m. on Friday, May 8, 2026.
The Stay Late Request and Summer Contract are on the Housing Portal.

Students are encouraged to begin taking items home in the weeks prior to closing. It will make the move out experience easier if on your last day in Housing you do not have to pack it all up to take home.
As a safety precaution, when packing up belongings it is recommended not to leave items in vehicles overnight.

What if my RA is not available during the time I need to check out?
If your RA does not have availability to do a check out when you need to move out, then please contact your RA.
What if I am checking out after 6 p.m. on Friday, May 8?
Residents checking out after 6 p.m. on May 8 and before May 11, should use the drop box outside of the HRL office or drop their key off at the Package Hub (May 9: 8 a.m.-6 p.m. or May 10: 8 a.m.-8 p.m.). Residents graduating and participating in Commencement on Friday, May 8 or Saturday, May 9, may request to stay late, however, they must move out by Sunday, May 10. Residents must submit the online Stay Late request form.
Request to Stay Late for Other Reasons
If a resident needs to stay later than 6 p.m. on Friday, May 8, they must fill out the Stay Late Request form. Residents must be specific with reason to stay late.
Stay Late Request Form
The Stay Late Request is on the Housing Portal and the deadline to submit is Friday, May 1. Stay Late requests must be approved by HRL staff. Students will receive an email with the status of their request.
If a resident needs to stay after Sunday, May 10, but check out between May 11 and May 17, they should choose the Extended Stay option on the Stay Late form. Indicate the date you will check out and provide the reason you need to stay beyond May 10. Residents who request an extended stay are subject to approval and will be charged for the nights in residence until the check-out date. The nightly rate applied is based on the resident’s spring room type.
Residents currently living in housing will not move out of their spring assignment until notified their summer assignment is ready. Summer moves are anticipated to occur around the third week of May. It is recommended that residents taking first summer session classes remain in their spring assignment. Summer assignments will not be ready at the start of the first summer session.
Residents staying for summer need to have completed the summer housing contract. Summer housing rates are $33/night for a four person/two bedroom and $57/night for a two person/two bedroom. Note that spring residents will continue to be charged their spring housing nightly rate until they officially check out of it and have moved into their summer assignment.
Residents planning to live on campus in the summer and move in at a later date must check out of their spring assignment and remove all their belongings. Please note your summer housing dates on the summer contract.
The summer contract is on the Housing Portal.
The USPS considers a campus address as temporary and will not forward mail. Residents will need to notify family, friends and businesses of their address change. Housing and Residence Life will not hold or forward mail/packages even if you are returning for fall. HRL only processes mail/packages for summer housing residents.
To ensure residents receive all mail and packages prior to moving out, residents should not have items sent to HRL after Friday, May 1. Residents must pick up their mail or packages before checking out. Any mail and packages not picked up by Monday, May 11 will be returned to sender.*
*This does not apply to summer housing residents.
The Housing and Residence Life staff are here to help you as you prepare to move out or transition to summer. If you have questions, you may talk with your RA or Area Coordinator.
