Bio

Dr. Evans is an Associate Professor of Nursing at the University of Southern Indiana.  Her innovative leadership has been evident within the undergraduate nursing program through the development and implementation of interprofessional educational activities. Dr. Evans has worked with the NEPQR Grant team as an interprofessional clinical coach.  She and a team of other CNHP faculty have developed a workshop to help other health professional faculty facilitate interprofessional education in the clinical settings.  She works with the Midwest Interprofessional Practice, Education, and Research Center taskforce team on developing interprofessional education resources.  Dr. Evans is an alum of USI's undergraduate (2000), graduate (2010) and doctoral (2013) nursing programs.  Dr. Evan's doctoral capstone project, Development, Implementation, and Evaluation of a Nurse Manager Succession Plan in an Acute Care Hospital Setting, was selected for the 2013-2014 AACN’s Excellence in Advancing Nursing Practice Award.  She continues to work with healthcare organizations and other nurse scholars in the development of succession planning programs.  Dr. Evans was also selected as a 2014-2015 Sigma Theta Tau Nurse Faculty Leadership Scholar.  Dr. Evans' work on interprofessional education and succession planning has been published in multiple peer review journals and presented regionally, nationally, and internationally.  Dr. Evans' current research focuses on student resiliency and grit as it relates to academic success.
