CAP Transcript

There are a few things you should know if want to access your USI grades or transfer credits to another institution.

What is a transcript?

A transcript is a complete record of a student's academic work at the University of Southern Indiana. There is an official transcript and an unofficial transcript.

What is the difference between an official transcript and an unofficial transcript?

An official transcript is required to transfer your USI credits earned through CAP to other institutions. Official transcripts must be sent directly from USI to your institution. Colleges will not accept a printout from a student as an official transcript. There is a charge for official transcripts.

An unofficial transcript is how you can view your grade(s) earned in your CAP course(s). An unofficial transcript is also useful for college orientation and class registration if a credit transfer is not yet complete when you meet with your advisor.

  8. You will be redirected to Parchment where you will need to create an account with USI's Parchment Transcript Ordering Portal. Your high school Parchment account will not work with USI records.
  9. Both paper and electronic transcripts are available. It is most likely that the institution you are transferring credits to will prefer an electronic transcript. Contact your institution if you are not sure.
  10. Select 'Hold for Grades' while requesting your transcript. This means USI won't send your official transcript until final grades have been posted to your record.
    1. Spring and year-long courses will not have grades posted until mid-June. If you request your transcript before then and completed a CAP course that spring, you will need to request and pay for a second transcript to transfer those credits.
  11. Status updates of your order will be emailed to the email account you listed on your order.
