USI's AACSB-accredited business administration program brings the real world into the classroom. The entrepreneurship/small business area of interest is designed to immerse you into the Romain College of Business Entrepreneurial Initiative. The goal of this initiative is to help foster an entrepreneurial community of innovative thought, openness to new ideas, interdisciplinary collaborations, and continual entrepreneurial mindset development. This area of interest will provide you with an enhanced competency to launch a business and engage in successful business practices. You will take the three-course entrepreneurial course sequence along with a course in small business development and an upper-level elective course. USI's bachelor's degree in business administration emphasizes practical knowledge along with business theory. You'll take challenging, engaging business courses that provide a real-world perspective, while developing marketable business administration skills that employers seek in new hires. You will receive personalized attention from caring faculty members and complete high-quality internships that yield many hours of workplace experience.
The Romain College of Business has earned accreditation from AACSB, which is considered the "gold standard" for business accreditation. Only 5.7% of business schools, globally, have earned that accreditation. Achieving accreditation is a multi-year process of rigorous internal focus, engagement with an AACSB-assigned mentor and peer-reviewed evaluation. Schools must develop and implement a plan to align with accreditation standards. These standards require excellence in areas relating to strategic management and innovation; student, faculty, and staff as active participants; learning and teaching; and academic and professional engagement.
The 58 credit hours represents the combined 34 credit hours required for all business majors and 24 credit hours for the business administration major -- the entrepreneurship/small business area of interest requires 15 credits, which is also included in this number. For more information, view the course checksheet.
