Chad J. Fetscher Scholarship Admission to select For student that has graduated from the Randall T. Shepard Academy for Law & Social Justice. Renewable with a 3.0 GPA. May not be awarded to a graduating senior. Recipient must be enrolled during the upcoming academic year in order to receive this scholarship. 1 $250
Dain Garrett Merit Scholarship Faculty to select Junior or senior history student, who will be enrolled at USI the following academic year, who through courage and perseverance has overcome a significant obstacle - physical, financial or academic. Selection made by history department faculty. May not be awarded to a graduating senior. Recipient must be enrolled during the upcoming academic year in order to receive this scholarship. Not renewable, but possibly re-awarded. 1 $2600
Daniel A. Miller Senior Prize in History Faculty to select The History department will select an outstanding student who shows great promise as history teacher/scholar. Typically awarded to a senior, so not renewable. May be considered for award again if criteria still fits and not graduated. May not be awarded to a graduating senior. 1 $250
DAR - Captain Henry Vanderburgh Chapter Scholarship Faculty to select History student. May be renewed if recipient still meets criteria. May not be awarded to a graduating senior. Recipient must be enrolled during the upcoming academic year in order to receive this scholarship. 1 $1200
Delores DeWitt & Charles H. Browning History Scholarship Admission to select Recruit and retain a top incoming history major in top 15 percent of high school class from Evansville, Indiana. Scholarship will be renewable for three additional years with 3.0 GPA or higher. Scholarship may be used for tuition, fees or books. USI Undergraduate Admissions will make selection. May not be awarded to a graduating senior. Recipient must be enrolled during the upcoming academic year in order to receive this scholarship. 1 $1200
Donald E. Pitzer History Scholarship Faculty to select Award to an excellent American History student who has attained or nearly attained junior status. Preference to a student who shows interest and promise in one of the following areas: historic sites, museums, archives, diplomatic or humanitarian service or secondary or university teaching. May not be awarded to a graduating senior. Recipient must be enrolled during the upcoming academic year in order to receive this scholarship. Not renewable. 1 $600
Dr. Salvatore F. and Rosamond L. Mirabella Achievement Award Faculty to select The graduating senior demonstrating excellence in English, French, Spanish, history, anthropology or the fine and performing arts. Selection to be made by representatives of each above-named academic area, preferably the department chairs, with the Dean of the College of Liberal Arts as chair. Not renewable. May not be awarded to a graduating senior. 1 $800
Gustav M. and Eleanor L. Hoos & Daniel C. & Carolyn O. Scavone Scholarship Faculty to select History major with 3.5 GPA or better. May not be awarded to a graduating senior. Recipient must be enrolled during the upcoming academic year in order to receive this scholarship. Not renewable. 1 $600
Petranek Non-Traditional Scholarship Faculty to select Award to a non-traditional student who is at least 25 years old who is majoring in sociology, psychology, political science or history and has a minimum 3.0 GPA. Scholarship to be used during junior or senior year and is not renewable, but may be applied for and awarded for a second year. Preference will be given to students with financial need. May not be awarded to a graduating senior. Recipient must be enrolled during the upcoming academic year in order to receive this scholarship. Student Financial Assistance must validate need. 1 $700
Robert W. Carithers Scholarship for Arts and Humanities Other Awarded each year to an incoming freshman planning to major in art, English, history, philosophy, theatre, or world language with minimum 3.0 GPA and demonstrated financial need. See current brochure. Automatically renewable if recipient still meets criteria. Selected by Society for Arts & Humanities. May not be awarded to a graduating senior. Recipient must be enrolled during the upcoming academic year in order to receive this scholarship. Student Financial Assistance must validate need. 4 $2500
Thomas Sprigg Sr. Chapter of the National Society of Colonial Dames Scholarship Faculty to select For a deserving history major. Recipient must be enrolled during the upcoming academic year in order to receive this scholarship. May be renewed if criteria is still met. May not be awarded to a graduating senior. 1 $300
William McGucken History Award Faculty to select A student with senior standing may submit a paper from a 300- or 400-level history course taken in the prior calendar year. Paper should be submitted to the department chair by the first day of spring faculty meeting. Student may submit paper more than one year, but not automatically renewable. May not be awarded to a graduating senior. 1 $250
