Frequently Asked Questions

What is Tk20?
Tk20 is a comprehensive data management system that allows students to be active online participants in multiple areas of their college experience including course instruction, field experiences, and sharing of assessment data.

Tk20 is a web-based program that can be used easily by both Mac and PC users.

What is the cost?
If this is your first semester or you are a student not near completion of a degree program leading to certification or an advanced program for teachers at USI, the cost will be $100 when purchased directly from USI's Tk20 site. From this website, you will be able to make a secure payment online using a Visa or MasterCard. Alternately, you may pay by mail via a cashier's check or money order – details can be found on the same website.

Students may also purchase Tk20 from the USI Campus Store. Please note that the prices may be higher at the bookstore, although purchasing there will allow students to get requisite compensation from financial aid, if eligible.

Student subscriptions will be effective for seven years from the date of purchase.

When are students notified about the requirement to purchase Tk20?
You will be informed about Tk20 by your instructor. Multiple courses in each program are designated for collection of assessment data related to assignments or field experiences. Students need to purchase Tk20 before the end of the first week of any of these classes.

How do I purchase a student account?
To purchase your student account, please refer to the instructions provided on our payment page.

I purchased/registered for my Tk20 my account online and I have not received my username/password. What do I do?
Normally, it takes 2-3 business days to receive your activation information. Please ensure the email did not go to your junk mail folder. Activations can be delayed for a variety of reasons; the most common are entering your ID#, email address, or credit card information incorrectly. If you have not received your activation email after 4 days, please contact the USI IT Helpdesk.

What is my Tk20 username and password?
Use your MyUSI Username and Password to log into Tk20. If you have trouble, please contact the USI IT Helpdesk.

I have already logged into Tk20 but I forgot my password. There is a "forgot your username or password?" link on the Tk20 site that will remind you of your password. If that doesn't work, please contact USI Computer Center Helpdesk so they can reset your password.

What do I do if one of my courses does not appear in Tk20?
The Tk20 system is updated on a regular basis and if your course is not appearing now it may appear in a few days. Please contact the USI Computer Center Helpdesk if the issue persists.

I am having trouble logging in/ completing my assignment/ uploading files in Tk20. Please refer to the TK20 online tutorials for guidance. Visit the Tk20 login page and click on the Tutorials tab. This will take you to tutorials that cover common problems. If you continue to experience problems please contact the USI Computer Center Helpdesk.

How do I locate any pending assignments from my professors?
Assignments will appear in the "Pending Tasks" area of your Home tab. They are indicated by a red flag to the left of each pending task. Optionally, you can find pending coursework by clicking on the Courses.

Is the system confidential?
Your files will be accessed only by you, your instructors, and advisors. Later on, with your permission, prospective employers may view designated portions of your file.

I need a refund, what do I do?
