Description: The 2021 ID3E! Virtual STEM Experience is an online camp aimed at teaching children in grades 3 -5 about the engineering design process through problem-based inquiry challenges. Each week, students will be asked to solve a practical problem by creating a prototype. This year, the theme of ID3E! is "Shipwrecked!" Group meetings will be held on each Tuesday and Friday during the month of June from 10 a.m. - 11 a.m. During the Tuesday meetings, the week's challenge will be presented and the design process will begin to get students ready for their prototype build. Students will have until the Friday morning session to build and test their prototypes for final submission. Points will be given to each student based on specific criteria for the week's project. Cool prizes will be given during the final week to the camp's top designers! Dates: Eight (8) camp meetings are scheduled for each Tuesday and Friday during the month of June beginning on June 1, 2021. The last camp meeting is on June 25, 2021.
Audience: The ID3E! Virtual STEM Experience is for students in grades 3 - 5 who can devote a few hours a week to the design, creation, and improvement of four theme-based prototypes made from common household materials.
Necessary Items not Provided by Program: Your child will need access to a home computer with a web camera and reliable internet. Various readily available household items will be necessary throughout the program. A list of materials that you will need to provide for your child will be provided two weeks before the camp begins.
Capacity: The capacity for this experience is twenty-four (24). When the camp fills, the website will be updated to reflect that the camp is on a waitlist.
