Student Wellness Programs - Fall 2021:

Programs are added to this calendar throughout the semester, so keep checking back! 

August:

8/25/21: Be Well to Do Well Table (12-1 p.m. UC West Desk): Stop by our table in the UC to learn about the many wellness resources that exist on campus, pick up free wellness giveaways, and information on topics like healthy eating, safer alcohol use, mental health, and sleep. Sponsored by campus partners from the Be Well to Do Well Initiative. 

September:

9/2/21: Stress Less Workshop (4:00-4:40 p.m. RL 0026): Stress is an unavoidable part of life, but how we make sense of it and respond to it can make a world of difference for our wellbeing. This work will discuss strategies for stress management, including self-care, mindfulness, and more. There will also be free wellness giveaways!

9/8/21: Be Rested Workshop #1: Improve your snooze (4:00-4:40 p.m. RL 0026): Better quality sleep improves your physical and mental health. Join us for this 3-part series for better sleep! During 'Improve your Snooze,' you'll learn the basics of sleep hygiene and helpful resources. Attend all 3 sessions of the 'Be Rested' series and be entered in a drawing for a weighted blanket. 

9/13-10/2: Virtual Wellness Challenge - Move More: Virtual wellness challenges encourage you to practice wellness each day, whether you're on or off campus! For the "Move More" challenge, you'll track your steps for 20 days, and learn the benefits of walking for exercise, stress management, and overall health. You'll get tips and resources via email each week, and upon completion of the challenge, you'll be entered in a drawing to win a prize. 

9/15/21: Be Rested Workshop #2: Breathe and relax (4:00-4:40 p.m. RL 0026): Better quality sleep improves your physical and mental health. Join us for this 3-part series for better sleep! During 'Breathe and Relax,' you'll learn and practice breathing and stretches exercises to help you relax before bed. Attend all 3 sessions of the 'Be Rested' series and be entered in a drawing for a weighted blanket. 

9/20/21: HIV Testing (12-3 p.m. in RL 0005): Take care of your health and know your status! Free and confidential HIV testing is offered in partnership with AIDS Resource Group Evansville. No appointments, just drop-in. 

9/22/21: Be Rested Workshop #3: Manage your time (4:00-4:40 p.m. RL 0026): Better quality sleep improves your physical and mental health. Join us for this 3-part series for better sleep! During 'Manage your time,' you'll learn time management strategies to help your prioritize sleep in your schedule. Attend all 3 sessions of the 'Be Rested' series and be entered in a drawing for a weighted blanket.  

October:

10/11-10/30: Virtual Wellness Challenge - Mindfulness: Virtual wellness challenges encourage you to practice wellness each day, whether you're on or off campus! For the "Mindfulness" challenge, you'll engage in a daily mindfulness practice, and learn the benefits of mindfulness for stress reduction and positive mental health. You'll get tips and resources via email each week, and upon completion of the challenge, you'll be entered in a drawing to win a prize. 

10/14/21: Flowers on the Lake (4 p.m. outside the Liberal Arts Building): October is domestic violence awareness month. Join us for this annual event to recognize and honor those who have lost their lives to domestic violence, learn the warning signs of relationship abuse and how to help a friend. Sponsored by the USI Sexual Assault & Gender Violence Prevention Group. 

10/18/21: HIV Testing (9 a.m.-12 p.m. in RL 0021): Take care of your health and know your status! Free and confidential HIV testing is offered in partnership with AIDS Resource Group Evansville. No appointments, just drop-in. 

November:

11/8-11/19: Virtual Wellness Challenge - Attitude of Gratitude: Virtual wellness challenges encourage you to practice wellness each day, whether you're on or off campus! For the "Attitude of Gratitude" challenge, you'll complete a daily gratitude exercise, and learn more about the impacts of gratitude on mental health and emotional wellness. You'll get tips and resources via email each week, and upon completion of the challenge, you'll be entered in a drawing to win a prize. 

11/15/21: HIV Testing (12-3 p.m. in RL 0005) - CANCELED 

11/16/21: Nutrition workshop - healthy holidays (12 p.m., HP 1008): Join the Food & Nutrition program to learn about healthy eating during the holidays! Learn about food safety, making healthy choices, and ideas for leftovers. 

December:

12/7/21: Relaxation Station (12-1 p.m. UC West Desk): Stop by our table in the UC to pick up a free sleep mask, stress ball, coloring supplies, and stress management resources before finals!

12/8/21: Paws & Play (12-2 p.m. RFWC Quiet Lounge): Take a study break and visit with therapy dogs and pick up free stress management resources. Sponsored by Rice Library and RFWC. 

12/9/21: Paws & Play (4-6 p.m. Rice Library 2nd Floor Reading Room): Take a study break and visit with therapy dogs and pick up free stress management resources. Sponsored by Rice Library and RFWC.

12/13/21-12/16/21: Drop in and De-Stress (at the Recreation, Fitness, and Wellness Center): Stop by the RFWC front desk during our regular hours to pick up free coloring supplies (crayons and coloring sheets). Relax and color in the lobby, or take them to go!
