Norwegian Foot March

Thank you and congratulations to all the 2019 Norwegian Foot March participants.  It was a great day that saw more than 325 marchers take the road on a beautiful Saturday morning.  Your food donations gave the Evansville Vet Center nearly 1000 pounds of non-perishable food items.

Registration for the 2019 event has closed. Registration for the 2020 event is expected to open no later than 01 July 2020.

The Norwegian Foot March is an 18.6 mile foot march while carrying a 25 pound ruck sack. Participants have no more than 4.5 hours to finish. Those who complete the event to standard will earn the Norwegian Foot March pin. The 2019 event will be held on Saturday, 2 November 2019.

Thank you to those who successfully registered for an overwhelmingly positive response. We reached our capacity of 500 participants on Sunday, 13 October. No additional registrations will be accepted. We will be sending coordinating instructions about directions, heat assignments, parking, check in procedures, and route among others to registered participants no later than 25 October.

We received official endorsement of our Norwegian sponsor from the Norwegian Defense Attaché. In keeping with the true spirit of the award, we will conduct our event as it has been conducted for 17 years at USI. We will issue signed certificates and pins to participants who earn the skills insignia by successfully complete the foot march to the Norwegian standards. DA 4187's will not be issued. It is the service member's responsibility to submit a DA Form 4187 (or service equivalent) through the local chain of command to request authorization for wear of the foreign award. USI Army ROTC cannot guarantee approval of that request.

If you wish to participate as a team of four, that option will be offered at event check-in. Please review the "Rules and Safety" sub page and information pertaining to the team category and the event regulations in general.

The event is made possible through the support of the University of Southern Indiana, its faculty, the USI Student Veterans Association and the students of Eagle Company of Wabash Battalion Army ROTC.
