Girls Who Code is a national non-profit working to close the gender gap in technology. Girls Who Code offers curriculum for after-school programs along with summer immersion sessions across the country.
At USI, the SwISTEM Resource Center has partnered with Pott College of Science, Engineering, and Education and Romain College of Business to bring Girls Who Code to campus as an educational outreach opportunity for area students in sixth to eighth grade.
Girls Who Code curriculum will be used along with supplemental instruction using other visual programming apps. Guest speakers are also scheduled to lead conversations regarding special challenges faced by females in STEM and pathways to careers in coding.
