2021 Welcome Week Program Schedule

On-Campus Housing Move In | Wednesday, August 18 - Thursday, August 19 | Time 9 am - 4 pm

  • Residential students will sign up online for a 45-minute move in time slot for unloading and moving vehicles. Residential students will receive more information from Housing and Residence Life starting July 20. View move in details.
    • Living Learning Communities (LLC) students are encouraged to move in on Wednesday, August 18 to allow for LLC orientation and activities. View this year's program schedule.

Welcome Week Fair | Wednesday, August 18 - Thursday, August 19 | Time 10 am - 4 pm

  • All new students are invited to attend this fair to prepare for the fall semester. Campus departments will be available to handle University business as you prepare for the fall.
    • Commuter students, when you arrive at campus, please park in Parking Lot C, which is by the Screaming Eagles Arena (the building with glass and the eagle design). You can skip the Housing Check-In car line in the left lane, and drive in the right lane to Parking Lot C by the Screaming Eagles Arena.
  • Commuter students may also check in on Friday, August 20-Sunday, August 22 at the University Center West Information Desk.
    • Friday, August 20 from 8:30 a.m.-6 p.m.
    • Saturday, August 21, and Sunday, August 22 from 10 a.m.-3 p.m.

Face Coverings

Beginning July 28 and until further notice:

  • Face coverings are required indoors on the USI campus, regardless of vaccination status. Physical distancing of 3 feet or more will continue to be required.
  • This decision was made after the July 27 announcement and recommendations from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). The University has consistently followed CDC guidance throughout the pandemic.
  • USI strongly encourages all students and employees to be vaccinated against COVID-19. Immunity is the key to protecting us all.

Eagle Access Card (Student ID)

  • All new students receive a USI Student ID. This card is used for meal plans, Munch Money, Flex Money, and more.
  • Students need to bring a government-issued ID to get their Student ID.
  • Residential students can get their ID during the Welcome Week Fair following Move In from Wednesday, August 18 - Thursday, August 19.
  • Commuter Students 
    • If you live locally, you may come to campus over the summer and get your ID. The ID office is open Monday thru Friday 8:30 a.m.-3 p.m. this summer. The office is located on the lower level of UC West (near Chick-fil-A).
    • ID photos can be taken from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Wednesday, August 18 - Thursday, August 19 during the Welcome Week Fair to handle larger numbers of students. These are new student move-in dates, but we encourage commuter students to also come out.
    • The ID Office will also be open the following hours before classes begin:
      • Friday, August 20 from 8:30 a.m.-6 p.m.
      • Saturday, August 21, and Sunday, August 22 from 10 a.m.-3 p.m.

New Student Planner

All new students get this year's school planner.
  • Residential students will receive it at Housing Move In.
  • Commuter students can pick it up at the University Center West Information Desk throughout the week and weekend.

  • Don’t be late for your first college class! AMIGOs will assist you in finding classrooms for your fall semester classes.

Welcome Dinners | Wednesday, August 18, and Thursday, August 19 | University Center West

USI students and their families are invited to attend the Welcome Dinners on Wednesday, August 18, and Thursday, August 19 at the end of move-in day from 4:30-7:30 pm in University Center West.

  • Registration closed on Tuesday, August 10.
  • Paid guests should pick up their tickets for the dinner(s) during one of the Welcome Fairs at the Parents & Families Association tables in UCE Concourse from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on August 18 and 19.
  • Students do not need tickets but will need to have their student ID cards to check-in at each dinner.

Student Entertainment (Wednesday, August 18 - Sunday, August 22)

  • Residential students are invited to participate in evening activities after they move in.
  • All new students are invited to attend the Welcome Week events on Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights.
  • There are events during the day on Thursday, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday.

Cultural Diversity Welcome Reception | Thursday, August 19 | 3:30 - 5 p.m. | Carter Hall

College Meetings, Convocation and Lunch** | Friday, August 20 | Check-In: 9-9:30 am

  • Participate in Convocation, the official welcome and introduction to USI for all new students. Then meet faculty and other new students and learn how to get involved in your major. Afterward, enjoy lunch on our beautiful campus. Learn more about Convocation.

Commuter and Transfer Student Virtual Welcome Video

  • Commuter and transfer students can view the commuter and transfer students welcome video to learn all about getting to class on time, where to park, what to do between classes and much more. Eagle Experience: Virtual Program | Saturday, August 21 | Video now available

  • Required for all Freshman students. Get a jump-start on your college experience! Freshmen are required to view this virtual presentation prior to classes. We will discuss campus values, policies, and our revised expectations during a pandemic. This information has been emailed to all freshmen from the Dean of Students Office and can be viewed here. USI Dining Meal Times, Meal Plans and Munch Money

  • Students can enjoy free dinners Wednesday–Sunday of Welcome Week. Lunch is provided Friday, August 20.
    • Meal start times by housing for dinners on Friday, August 20, Saturday, August 21 and Sunday, August 22:
      4:30 p.m.: O’Bannon
      5:00 p.m.: Ruston
      5:30 p.m.: Governors
      6:00 p.m.: Newman
      6:30 p.m.: Apartments
      Anytime: Commuter Students
  • Meal plans start for brunch on Saturday, August 21 for the Fall Semester. Students will be able to access food vendors once they arrive on campus. Munch Money will be available as well.
  • Meals in The Loft require a meal plan, Munch Money, or credit/debit cards to purchase food. Other food vendors require the use of Munch Money or credit/debit cards.
